Abstract

There is an exaggerated concern about aesthetics in our society, both for adults and for children. During childhood, dental browning may be caused by trauma or falls which occurs frequently. Dental bleaching consists of an aesthetic treatment which the main advantage is the tooth structure preservation. Many studies have been done on this subject related to permanent dentition but few related to primary dentition. Thus, the aim of this study was to promote a better understanding of the psychological aspects of aesthetic childhood problems, adverse effects of bleaching agents on dental enamel and whitening in deciduous teeth. To conclude, we have searched articles in English and Portuguese between 1980 and 2020, in the PubMed, Lilacs, Scielo, Google Escolar databases and the Virtual Health Library (VHL) Platform.
